It’s Friday and I’m just too excited waiting for the launch of the new Christmas ghd next week, so thought I would have a little fun this afternoon with these 10 alternative ways to straighten your hair!

1 Run over it with a steam roller

For this you will need – you, a friend and a steam roller. Lie flat on the ground with your hair stretched out and get your friend to slowly roll forwards over your hair in the steam roller, being careful not to crush your head to death.

2 Hang yourself from a washing line by your hair

For this you will need – you, a clothes line, a chair and some pegs. Stand on the chair and attach your hair to the clothes line by sectioning into 2 inch strips and clipping on with pegs. Kick away the chair and dangle till your hair is straight, or you pass out with pain.

3 Push a piano on top of it

For this you will need – you, a friend (preferably a pianist) and a piano. Actually, you might need two friends, pianos are pretty heavy. Lie flat on the ground and stretch your hair out. Get your friend (or friends) to put the piano on top of your hair. Leave to compress for 1 hour and if your friend happens to be a pianist get him to play you a few ditties to pass the time. Fabulous!

While still wet open your freezer door and put your hair into it. Allow to freeze for one hour then remove hair and avoid temperatures over 4 degrees. This technique works best in the winter.

7 Run really really fast

For this you will need – you, a pair of trainers (Nike in the illustration above) and a road. Works best on a windy day. Wash your hair and straighten it with a brush. Put on your trainers, go out onto the road (being careful to avoid cars) and run as fast as you can for 20 minutes, or until hair is dry and arrow straight. 8 Trap it in a door

For this you will need – you, a friend, a door frame and a door. Walls are also preferable. Get your friend to open the door and then place your unstraightened, curly hair inside the frame. Ask your friend to close the door on your hair, trapping it in between the door and frame and slowly pull back through. Repeat until hair is fully straightened. This one might work actually…

9 Flatten your hair in a book

For this you will need – you and a book (preferably fantasy fiction). Note that this will not work with a kindle. Lie flat on the ground and put your hair in the book. Actually, I haven’t really thought this one through… you’ll probably need lots of books. Yeah, lots of books on top of each other for extra weight. Actually, you’ll probably need a friend too to stack the books up. So, you, lots of books and a friend for super straight hair.
